HAPPY HIGH POINT 2024!

Hello! Enjoying the High Point Furniture Market Spring 2024
Part 1 of 2

Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting High Point, NC, the proud host of the High Point Furniture Market. For us interior designers, this event is akin to the festive joy of Christmas. Boasting the title of the world’s largest furniture exhibition, it draws a crowd of 75,000 attendees. Held twice a year, in autumn and spring, it’s a global hub where vendors of furniture, art, and accessories from around the globe converge to display their latest creations. Meanwhile, interior designers, sales representatives, and buyers worldwide flock to explore and acquire new treasures.

For me, participation is enlightening through the array of design-focused courses it provides, keeping me abreast of the latest design movements and concepts, and incredibly refreshing. Additionally, the market presents a wonderful chance to reconnect with numerous friends and colleagues I’ve encountered throughout my years of attendance.

I’ve decided to make this post a two-parter. I began writing and it got very lengthy. Part One will be a small selection of my favorite finds from High Point this season. Part Two will be more of a trend report.

I’ve attended this show since I was 16 – Yes, 16. I’ve seen it all at this point and sometimes as I walk the show I see things that have a speciality to them that isn’t offered elsewhere. That’s what I’m sharing here.

This post is dedicated to my great adventure a small selection of discoveries I made at this season’s market. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do.

PERSONAL FAVORITES

AYANA PENDANT

EACH SHADE IS APPLIED WITH IVORY RESIN COMPOSITE MADE FROM GENUINE EGGSHELLS, SO THAT NO TWO ARE EVER QUITE ALIKE.

What I like about it:

It’s hand done so each one is one of a kind. The shape is like a beautiful flower in full bloom. This fixture would be a conversation piece in any space.

TANTON BAR

LEATHER CLAD BAR ON CASTORS WITH CROC LEATHER FINISH.

What I like about it:

Firstly, it’s mobile. That fact in itself makes this a functional addition to any home. It’s beautiful and elegant as well. It looks like a high end piece of luggage. Just gorgeous.

BIG EYED OWLS

THE OWLS ARE WHIMSICALLY MADE OF HANDCRAFTED ITALIAN ALABASTER WITH GOLD LEAF ACCENTS AND GLASS EYES.

What I like about it:

These little guys are absolutely scrumptious. I saw them peaking at me from across the room. They would look SO GREAT in bookcases.

METAL WALL FLOWERS

MULTIPLE TYPES AND SIZES OF DECORATIVE FLOWERS

What I like about it:

I’’m obsessed with these. Photos don’t do them justice. I’m actively looking for a project to use these beauties on. The visual impact that these would make would be breathtaking.

BEACHSIDE NIGHTSTAND

BLEND OF BEECH WOOD AND EUCALYPTUS WOOD. TEMPERED GLASS PANELS ALONG THE TOP SURFACE AND DRAWER FACE. THE DRAWER LIGHTED BY A MOTION ACIVATED LED LIGHT.

What I like about it:

This piece is sleek, stunning and functional. I love the display ability. The motion-activated light adds a smart design element.

GEMMA TWIN BED

FEATURES TWO-TONED METAL HARDWARE AND A SHAPELY CUSTOMIZABLE HEADBOARD

What I like about it:

It’s rather difficult to find a twin bed that looks sophisticated. This bed is elegant and customizable.

DELPHI SINK VANITY

REGENCY INSPIRED SINK CHEST. INCLUDES TWO WORKING DRAWERS WITH LARGE MEDALLION PULLS. QUARTZ TOP WITH PORCELAIN UNDERMOUNT SINK

What I like about it:

This cabinets is the height of drama. I love to give small bathrooms a wow factor and this piece would do the trick.

TABLE COMPOSITION

MIXED COMPOSITION OF SIDE TABLES, COCKTAIL TABLES, AND OTTOMANS.

What I like about it:

Creating a mixture of tables to create a “cocktail island” is growing on me quite a bit. When I entertain, I’m constantly running around to different areas of my home gathering tables and ottomans so that my guests will be comfortable. This grouping looks great and adds interest and functionality to a room. A+

KELLY S SOFA & MABEL LAMP

SCULPTED SOFA WITH BLOCK BASE. THE LAMPS ARE TRAVERTINE WITH A LINEN-SCULPTED SHADE.

What I like about it:

The sofa is great because it has an interesting look and it’s comfortable as well. Sculpted furniture is not always comfortable and this sofa is COZY.

The lamps have so much movement. The stone base has a beautiful patterning that is played up in the shape of the base. The shades are AWESOME. The shape of the shade is unlike any other lampshade at the market this year.

YVONNE CHANDELIER – 7 LT

FULLY ADJUSTABLE CHANDELIER FEATURE MOUTH-BLOWN TEXTURE GLASS CYLINDERS WITH A FROSTED OMBRE AFFECT ACCENTED WITH HAND WRAPPED JUTE ROPE DETAILS.

What I like about it:

This piece looks so high end. The mix of materials on this light are so well done and a perfect combination. The globe design gives off a soft glow when lighted. It’s truly a beautiful light.

DEMI CHAISE

THIS CHAISE HAS A FLUID SILOUETTE THAT COMBINES ASH AND BURNISHED BRASS TO FRAME A COMFORTABLE S-SPRING SEAT. IT’S OFFERED IN A HEAVY BOUCLE-LIKE UPHOLSTERY.

What I like about it:

The curvilinear shape of this chaise is beautiful and it’s super comfortable to cozy up in. The mix of materials elevates the style.

FOSSIL WINE RACK

THIS IS A ONE-OF-A-KIND HAND-CARVED PIECE FROM FOSSILIZED STONE. A TOWER DESIGN IS ALSO AVAILABLE.

What I LOVE about it:

I’m a sucker for fossils and rocks. No two are the same and the natural design is gorgeous. I love the fact that you see the shells in the facade of the piece. Wine bottles will stay cool and look gorgeous in this monolithic conversation piece.
